Women’s Retreat, 2015

The Women’s Retreat this year was held at Bishop’s Ranch in Healdsburg.   Our former seminarian intern, Lindsay Hills, was our leader.   It was a joint retreat with the women of St. Matthew’s in San Mateo, where Lindsay is associate rector.

It was an incredibly restful, renewing weekend.   Bishop’s Ranch is very beautiful, with views across the valley and wonderful trails for hiking.   We took hikes.   One of the women from St. Matthew’s is a yoga instructor, so we had a couple of yoga classes.   We were sharing the venue with St. Gregory’s, San Francisco.   They had arranged for a Contra dance to be held on Saturday night, complete with banjo, violin, and caller.   They invited us to join them.   It was really fun.

Lindsay led us in some prayer and quiet introspection.   We also could attend morning and evening prayer in the chapel, if we wanted.   We ended with compline at night and had a Sunday eucharist together.

What was really special about this retreat was how unstructured it was, with a lot of free time.   Besides the hiking, we did a lot of sitting around together, talking, sharing, having fun, getting to know each other.
